An instrument rating is for the student who has a private pilot helicopter rating and wishes to fly helicopters as a career. The completion of this rating allows for flight into Instrument Meteorological Conditions, such as clouds and dense fog under Instrument Flight Rules.
During your instrument training you will learn a variety of approaches and departures in and around the Los Angeles Basin.
Until now you will have been flying the helicopter with your eyes outside, always watching around you for visual references; now you will learn to depend on the gauges inside to keep you oriented.
With instrument rated helicopters becoming more common in the workplace, this rating is designed to maximize employment opportunities while building time for a commercial rating.
