"Where Dreams Takeoff!"

Spin Training

The California Flight Center Spin Training Program will present spin theory, spin safety, and spin flight procedures in normal preparation for pilots who desire spin training or for those pilots who are seeking their Flight Instructor Rating and a FAR: 61.187 (b) (1)(x1) endorsement. The comprehensive discussion of spins given by our instructors enables the California Flight Center pilot to better understand the aerodynamics of the spin prior to flight training. California Flight Center uses the building block method of flight instruction, helping the pilot visualize what precedes a spin and the forces acting upon the aircraft during the spin and in the recovery.

  1. Lesson One takes the student through medium and steep bank turns, followed by minimum controllable airspeed. This allows the pilot to get a feel for aircraft characteristics. Next is the introduction of stalls, oscillation stalls, the falling leaf (auto-rotation), and then the first spin.
  2. Lesson Two consists of more spins to emphasize precision and then capped off whit realistic scenarios of “over the top” and “under the bottom” spins.
